Ode to the Over '70's
On Mistley's lovely little
ground
A group of cricketers were found
Nothing new in that you say
But this had shades of yesterday
Two sides of men aged
70 or more
We really wondered what we had in store!
There was much talk of cricket matches past
When they were young and fit and could run fast
And some remembered things
that others doubted
Of trophies won and oppositions routed
But when the game began
we were impressed
That they could still give of their best
And in the end the honours they did share
The result? - a draw - and that seemed very fair
